Fight Choreographer& Coordinator
Creating the illusion of violence to tell story and reveal character, in a safe and consistent manner for the stage or screen
Kevin Inouye has choreographed or fight directed safe and effective portrayals of violence for over 90 live theatre productions, coordinated fights for about 30 screen productions, and worked as a gun wrangler/armorer, props consultant, and run a prop weapons rental business for the past two decades (through Fight Designer, LLC). The name Fight Designer was chosen because of how it can incorporate the various aspects of violence design, including honing down on story and style with the director, discussing prop weaponry from a character and design perspective, collaborating with wardrobe and set on safe movement and destruction and use of space, collaborating with sound design on aspects like firearms portrayal or musicality of a fight, and dramaturgical research into the best choices to express character, period, and genre.
